There is something powerful happening in the world right now: women are becoming increasingly visible in spaces where they were once told they did not belong.
As a South African woman, I am writing this on Women’s Day in South Africa, a day on which we celebrate the strength, resilience and contribution of women. But because True Take Home is a global platform, I also want this message to reach women beyond South Africa—particularly those who are finding their place in an increasingly digital world and beginning to recognise just how much influence they can have over the future they create.
Women are building businesses, learning digital skills, entering technology, creating content, working remotely, managing investments, leading organisations, becoming entrepreneurs and creating entirely new careers for themselves.
This is what women in power look like.
And power does not have to mean becoming harder, louder or less feminine. It can mean becoming more knowledgeable, financially aware, confident, skilled and intentional about the life you want to create.
This Women’s Day, True Take Home celebrates every woman who is choosing to learn, build and become, because your future deserves your participation.
Being a woman in power isn’t necessarily about having a prestigious title, running a multinational company or sitting at the head of a boardroom table.
Sometimes power looks much quieter. It can be found in a woman learning a new skill after putting her children to bed, opening her first investment account, starting a small online business, learning how artificial intelligence works, negotiating her salary or finally taking her financial future seriously.
Power begins with agency.
The moment you realise that you have the ability to influence the direction of your own life, you begin to operate differently.
The traditional career path is no longer the only path available.
The digital economy has opened doors that previous generations could not have imagined. Today, a woman can learn skills online, work with clients across the world, build a personal brand, sell digital products, freelance, consult, create content, develop software, manage online businesses or work remotely for an international company—without necessarily relocating to another country.
That matters because access to knowledge can become access to opportunity.
A laptop and an internet connection don’t automatically create success, of course, but digital skills can give women something incredibly valuable: more options.
And options create freedom.
Digital marketing, financial management, artificial intelligence, online business and other emerging skills can each give a woman another way to participate in the economy and create opportunities for herself. The more skills and knowledge you develop, the more possibilities you can see.
The woman who understands how the digital economy works is better positioned to participate in the economy of tomorrow.
There is a difference between wanting money and understanding money.
Financial independence isn’t about proving that you don’t need anyone. It is about knowing that you can participate meaningfully in decisions about your own life.
It means understanding what you earn, what you spend, what you save and what you build. It means developing the confidence to ask, “What happens to me financially if my circumstances change?”
That question isn’t pessimistic. It’s intelligent.
Every woman deserves financial literacy—not because she should expect the worst, but because knowledge gives you choices.
Your income is a tool, your skills are assets, your knowledge is an asset, and your ability to learn is an asset. In an increasingly digital economy, these assets can become incredibly powerful.
One of the most beautiful things about female leadership is that it doesn’t have to look like a copy of male leadership.
You don’t have to abandon your femininity to become powerful, nor do you have to become aggressive to be assertive. There is no requirement to stop being compassionate in order to become a strong decision-maker, and you certainly don’t have to make yourself smaller so that somebody else can feel bigger.
There is room for your softness and your strength, your family and your ambition, motherhood and entrepreneurship, creativity and strategy.
There is also room for the woman you are today and the woman you are becoming.
The world doesn’t only need women to occupy positions. It needs women who understand how to create—businesses, solutions, technology, wealth, opportunities, communities, knowledge, jobs and new possibilities for the women who come after them.
This is particularly important as artificial intelligence, automation and digital technology continue transforming the way we work.
The future will reward people who are willing to learn continuously.
That means there has never been a better time for women to become students of the digital world. You don’t have to know everything. You simply have to be willing to start.
Learn one skill and then another. Ask questions, experiment, make mistakes and try again. Build something, and then teach someone else what you learned.
That’s how movements grow.
Individual success is powerful. Collective success is transformative.
Imagine a world where women genuinely celebrated one another’s achievements instead of seeing another woman’s success as evidence that there is less space for them.
One woman’s success doesn’t have to take anything away from another woman. The woman who gets the promotion can open a door for someone else. An entrepreneur who learns how to build an online business can teach another woman how to do the same. Someone who becomes financially literate can pass that knowledge on to her daughter, while a woman who enters technology can become an example for the girl watching her.
And when a woman finally believes in herself, she can become the reason another woman believes in herself too.
We rise further when we stop treating one another as competition and start recognising one another as community.
You don’t need to have everything figured out today. You don’t need a ten-year plan, and you definitely don’t need to become someone else.
You can start exactly where you are.
Maybe your first step is learning a new skill. Maybe it is improving your financial knowledge, exploring an online income opportunity, taking a course, starting a business or simply becoming curious about technology and what it can do for you.
The important thing is to begin.
Because becoming a woman in power isn’t necessarily one dramatic transformation. It is a collection of small decisions that gradually change the way you see yourself and what you believe is possible.
This Women’s Day, True Take Home celebrates the women who are learning, working, building businesses, starting again, raising families while pursuing their dreams, entering the digital world and quietly creating something nobody else understands yet.
We celebrate the woman who knows she has more to give, as well as the woman who hasn’t discovered her power yet—but is about to.
You are not here to be saved.
You are here to lead.
Not necessarily everyone else. Not necessarily an organisation or a movement.
Start by leading your own life.
Build your knowledge. Develop your skills. Understand your money. Explore the digital world. Create something that belongs to you, and give yourself permission to grow into the woman you know you can become.
And when you rise, reach back and help another woman rise with you.
Because the digital economy needs your ideas.
The future needs your leadership.
The world needs your contribution.
You are the future.
You are the power.
